Laser Treatments in Estero & Naples — Sciton Halo, BBL & Moxi
Skinhaus Aesthetics is the Estero practice of Brandie Gostigian, PA-C, serving patients from Naples, Bonita Springs, and across Southwest Florida. We run three Sciton platforms — the Halo hybrid fractional laser, BBL BroadBand Light, and the non-ablative Moxi — because no single device is right for every skin type, every concern, or every season. The most important part of laser care happens before the handpiece ever touches your skin: matching the right device to your Fitzpatrick skin type, your goals, and the realities of year-round Florida sun.
Which laser is right for you
Skin type first, device second
Lasers and broadband light work by delivering energy that’s absorbed by targets in your skin — melanin (pigment), hemoglobin (the red of broken capillaries), or water inside your cells. That’s why your Fitzpatrick skin type matters so much. Devices that target pigment can’t always tell the difference between an unwanted brown spot and the melanin that gives deeper skin its tone, which is why the wrong device on the wrong skin can cause a burn or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation rather than clearer skin.
That is the entire reason we carry three platforms instead of one. Moxi is non-ablative and is considered safe for all skin tones, including deeper Fitzpatrick types, and can be used any time of year. BBL is most appropriate for lighter to medium skin (roughly Fitzpatrick I–IV) and is screened carefully before treatment. Halois adjustable, but its ablative component calls for conservative settings and a frank skin-type conversation on darker skin. Your consultation decides which of the three — if any — is the right starting point. If you’re weighing the two patients ask about most, our Sciton Halo vs Moxi comparison breaks down the difference.
How each device works
Three Sciton platforms, three different jobs
Sciton Halo — hybrid fractional resurfacing
Halo is the original hybrid fractional laser: it delivers two wavelengths into the same microscopic treatment zone — a non-ablative 1470 nm wavelength that coagulates deeper sun damage, and an ablative 2940 nm wavelength that resurfaces the very top layer of skin. Pairing them is what lets Halo produce results closer to an ablative laser while keeping recovery far shorter. It’s our workhorse for cumulative sun damage, brown spots, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and overall dullness — the “I don’t look like myself” complaint that years of Florida sun create.
BBL (BroadBand Light) — photofacial for spots and redness
BBL is Sciton’s broadband light platform — an advanced form of IPL rather than a laser. Instead of resurfacing, it sends light into the skin that’s absorbed by pigment and by the blood vessels behind redness. It’s the device we reach for to fade discrete brown spots, sun freckling, broken capillaries, and diffuse facial redness on appropriate skin types. Because BBL targets pigment, it is best suited to lighter and medium skin tones and is not a first choice for deeper skin — a screening step we never skip.
Moxi — gentle, all-tone, any-season resurfacing
Moxi is a non-ablative 1927 nm fractional laser that targets water in the skin to nudge a gentle renewal of tone and texture. It’s the device behind the “prejuvenation” trend — a lower-energy treatment for early sun damage, mild uneven tone, and dullness that suits patients who want maintenance rather than a single dramatic event. Its standout feature for us is access: Moxi is generally considered safe for every skin tone and can be performed year-round, which matters in a place where the sun never really takes a season off.
Your appointment
What to expect, and how much downtime
- Consultation & skin typing. We assess your Fitzpatrick type, concerns, history of cold sores, recent sun exposure, and current medications before recommending a device — or advising you to wait.
- Prep. Topical numbing is applied for Halo (about 30–60 minutes); BBL and Moxi are generally comfortable with cooling alone.
- Treatment. Most facial sessions take 30–60 minutes including numbing. Patients describe a warm, prickling or snapping sensation; Moxi sessions are especially quick.
- Aftercare. You leave with a simple regimen built around gentle cleansing, moisturizer, and disciplined sun protection.
Downtime by device
Halo carries the most social downtime: redness and mild swelling for a few days, followed by a fine bronzed, sandpaper-like texture (the treated micro-zones) that flakes off over roughly five to seven days. Initial brightness shows in that first week; collagen-driven results continue building for two to three months. BBLhas minimal downtime — some warmth and redness for a few hours, after which treated brown spots often darken to a “coffee-ground” look and slough away over several days. Moxi typically means two to four days of mild redness and a sandpapery feel before skin refreshes. Because Moxi is usually done as a series of three to four sessions, results are cumulative rather than dramatic in one visit.
The Florida factor
Lasers and Southwest Florida sun
Sun is the single biggest variable in laser safety, and Southwest Florida offers it in abundance. Treating skin that is freshly tanned or sunburned raises the risk of burns and uneven results, because the extra melanin competes for the same light energy the device is aiming at your brown spots. For BBL and for the ablative side of Halo, we ask that you arrive with skin that has not been recently tanned, and we’ll postpone treatment rather than risk it.
Afterward, daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher is non-negotiable — ideally for several months — because healing skin exposed to UV is exactly how post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation starts. Practically, this is why Moxi is our go-to when someone wants to treat through the summer or has an outdoor lifestyle, while Halo and BBL are often better planned around lower-sun stretches or paired with a serious commitment to hats, shade, and sunscreen.
Pricing
How Skinhaus prices laser treatments
Laser pricing depends on the device, the size of the treatment area, and whether a single session or a series is the right plan for your skin. A full-face Moxi series is priced differently than a single targeted BBL session or a full-face Halo. We don’t publish fixed prices online because an honest quote depends on your skin and your goals — and a number without that context tends to mislead more than it helps. You’ll receive a written estimate at your consultation before anything is scheduled.
Naples & Southwest Florida
Why Naples patients drive to Estero for laser care
Skinhaus sits about twenty minutes north of downtown Naples in Estero, an easy drive for patients in Naples, Bonita Springs, and Fort Myers. What brings them isn’t a longer device menu than anywhere else — it’s the conservative, screening-first approach that Brandie built the practice around. We would rather talk you out of the wrong laser than book the wrong laser, and we’ll tell you plainly when a series of gentler treatments will serve your skin better than one aggressive one.
Laser results also depend on what you do between sessions, so we’ll often pair a plan with medical-grade skincare and, where it fits, with our skin rejuvenation treatments or injectables for concerns that light alone can’t address.
Patient FAQ
Common questions about laser treatments
Which laser is best for my skin tone?
It depends on your Fitzpatrick skin type, which we assess at consultation. Moxi is non-ablative and is generally considered safe for all skin tones, including deeper skin, and can be done year-round. BBL is best suited to lighter and medium skin (roughly Fitzpatrick I–IV) because it targets pigment. Halo is adjustable but its ablative component calls for conservative settings on darker skin. Matching the device to your skin is the most important safety step we take.
How much downtime do Halo, BBL, and Moxi have?
Halo has the most: a few days of redness and mild swelling, then a fine bronzed, sandpaper-like texture that flakes off over roughly five to seven days. BBL has minimal downtime — some warmth and redness for a few hours, after which treated brown spots darken and slough away over several days. Moxi usually means two to four days of mild redness and a sandpapery feel.
Can I have a laser treatment during a Florida summer?
Moxi can be performed any time of year, which makes it our go-to for patients with outdoor lifestyles. BBL and the ablative side of Halo require skin that has not been recently tanned or sunburned, plus diligent broad-spectrum SPF 30+ afterward, so they are often better planned around lower-sun stretches. If you arrive with freshly tanned skin, we will postpone rather than risk a burn or uneven result.
What does the Sciton Halo treat?
Halo is a hybrid fractional laser that combines a non-ablative 1470 nm wavelength with an ablative 2940 nm wavelength in the same treatment zone. It addresses cumulative sun damage, brown spots, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and overall dullness. Initial brightness appears within the first week, while collagen-driven improvement continues building for two to three months.
How many laser sessions will I need?
It varies by device and goal. Moxi is typically done as a series of three to four sessions for cumulative improvement. BBL is often a series followed by periodic maintenance. Halo can produce visible results in one to two sessions. Your plan is individualized at consultation rather than sold as a fixed package.
Does a laser treatment hurt?
Comfort depends on the device. We apply topical numbing for Halo, usually 30 to 60 minutes beforehand. BBL and Moxi are generally well tolerated with cooling alone; most patients describe a warm, prickling or snapping sensation rather than pain. We adjust settings and pacing to keep you comfortable.
Can I combine laser with Botox or filler?
Yes, and many patients do. Light and laser treat tone, texture, and pigment, while injectables address movement and volume — they solve different problems. We sequence and space them sensibly at your consultation so each treatment heals well. Ask about pairing laser care with our injectables when you book.
