Wedding Skin-Prep Timeline: A Galderma Trainer’s Month-by-Month Countdown

A Galderma trainer’s month-by-month wedding skin-prep timeline for Naples and Estero brides — exactly when to book Botox, filler, laser, and microneedling.

The brides who end up disappointed almost never picked the wrong treatment. They picked the wrong week. They booked filler ten days out and walked down the aisle still faintly bruised, or tried a peel for the first time the month of the wedding and spent it flaking. Good skin on your wedding day is mostly a scheduling problem, and it’s a solvable one. I’m Brandie Gostigian, PA-C, a Galderma GAIN national trainer at Skinhaus in Estero — here’s the countdown I actually give my Naples and Bonita Springs brides.

The one rule that matters most

Never debut a treatment right before your wedding. If you’ve never had Botox, filler, a laser, or a peel, the weeks before the biggest photos of your life are the worst possible time to find out how your skin reacts. Every treatment below has a “trial run” version: do it once, months ahead, see how you heal and how you like it, and only then build it into your timeline. Everything that follows assumes you’re either an established patient or leaving yourself enough runway to test first. When in doubt, earlier is always safer than closer.

Your countdown at a glance

Here’s the whole plan on one screen. The windows below are the latestI’d comfortably book each treatment — give yourself more room whenever you can, especially for anything you’re doing for the first time.

6 months out: trial runs and anything that needs a series

This is where first-timers belong. If you’re curious about Botox or filler but have never had either, your trial appointment goes here — far enough out that you can live with the result, decide what you’d change, and still have time to adjust. It’s also when the slow-and-steady treatments start. SkinPen microneedling and most chemical-peel plans are done as a series — often three to six sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart — and the glow keeps building for three to six months after you finish. Starting now means your last session lands comfortably clear of the wedding, with no risk of lingering pinkness or peeling near the date.

A deeper resurfacing laser fits here too if your skin needs real correction. Which one depends on your skin, and it’s worth reading how I choose between Halo and Moxi before you book — but for a big, one-time change, the runway you have at six months is a luxury. Use it.

2 to 3 months out: resurfacing and filler

A Halo or BBL laser belongs about two to three months before the wedding. Plan on roughly five to seven days of social downtime — a few days of redness, then a bronzed, sandpaper-like texture that flakes off — and then weeks of quiet collagen building underneath, which is exactly the glow you want to peak for photos, not the week you’re still healing. Treating early also protects you: a laser should never go over freshly tanned skin, so the earlier session keeps you clear of any last-minute sun.

This is also the sweet spot for dermal filler. Book cheek, lip, or jawline filler six to eight weeks out — four weeks at the absolute minimum. Bruising usually clears within a week, but the final shape doesn’t fully settle until around the two-week mark, and lips in particular can stay subtly puffy for a week to ten days. Six to eight weeks buys margin for all of it, plus a review appointment if anything needs a small adjustment. First filler ever? Push it earlier.

4 to 6 weeks out: Botox, and the last of the lasers

Schedule your final Botox or Dysport four to six weeks before the wedding. Neuromodulators reach their full effect at ten to fourteen days — Dysport often a day or two sooner — and that four-to-six-week window leaves room to see the result and add a tiny touch-up if a brow sits unevenly, with everything fully settled before the day. If you’re weighing the two products, I break down how Botox and Dysport actually differ elsewhere on the blog.

A gentler Moxi session can also live in this window and even a little closer. Moxi is non-ablative with only a day or two of pinkness, which is why it’s my go-to for a close-in, low-risk freshening — and, unlike Halo and BBL, it’s safe to run year-round through a Florida summer. A final peel or microneedling session, if it’s part of your series, also wants to be wrapped up by about the four-week line.

The final two weeks: hands off

In the last fourteen days, stop injecting. No Botox, no filler — the risk of a stray bruise or a result that hasn’t finished settling isn’t worth it this close in. What’s left is gentle and surface-level. A dermaplaning treatment and a hydrating facial are perfect for the final week — about five to seven days out — because they have essentially no downtime and leave the skin smooth so makeup glides on. Just don’t make either one a first-time experiment. If a spray tan is part of your look, do it last of everything, a couple of days before, and never over freshly lasered or peeled skin. Day of: water, sleep, SPF, and nothing new.

The Southwest Florida season factor

Most weddings here land in our cooler, lower-sun stretch — roughly October through April, when the snowbirds are back and the weather cooperates. That timing is a gift for your skin plan: it’s exactly when resurfacing lasers like Halo and BBL are safest, because there’s far less risk of treating recently tanned skin. If your wedding is a high-summer date instead, we simply lean on Moxi and the non-laser routes and keep the heavier resurfacing for a lower-sun window. Either way, daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher between now and the wedding isn’t optional — sun is what undoes the tone and brightness you’re working to build.

The honest truth is that the best wedding skin comes from starting early and doing less near the finish line. If you tell me your date, we can work backward and build a calendar around your skin, your history, and your comfort with downtime. Book a consultation with me or call 239-287-1840, and we’ll map it out together — with a written plan before anything is scheduled.

Patient FAQ

Common questions

How long before my wedding should I get Botox?

Schedule your final Botox or Dysport four to six weeks before the wedding. Neuromodulators reach full effect at ten to fourteen days — Dysport often a day or two sooner — so that window leaves room to see the result and add a small touch-up if needed, with everything settled before the day. Stop injecting inside the final two weeks, and if it’s your first time, do a trial run several months ahead.

How far in advance should I get filler before my wedding?

Book dermal filler six to eight weeks out, and four weeks at the absolute minimum. Bruising usually clears within a week, but the final shape doesn’t fully settle until around the two-week mark, and lips in particular can stay subtly puffy for seven to ten days. If it’s your first filler, plan even earlier so you can see how it settles.

Can I get a Halo or BBL laser before my wedding?

Yes, but give it room — about two to three months. Halo and BBL involve roughly five to seven days of social downtime followed by weeks of collagen building, which is the glow you want peaking for photos rather than still healing. They also shouldn’t be done over freshly tanned skin. If you need something closer to the date, Moxi is the gentler option — only a day or two of pinkness, and safe year-round through a Florida summer.

When should I get microneedling before my wedding?

Microneedling works best as a series — often three to six sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart — so start four to six months before the wedding and schedule the final session at least four weeks out. Results appear within a few weeks and keep building for three to six months, which is why the runway matters.

What skin treatment can I do the week of my wedding?

Keep the final week gentle and surface-level: a dermaplaning treatment and a hydrating facial about five to seven days out are ideal because they have essentially no downtime and leave skin smooth for makeup. Avoid anything new, and skip injectables, peels, and lasers this close in.

What’s the biggest wedding skin-prep mistake to avoid?

Trying a treatment for the first time too close to the date. You don’t want to discover how your skin reacts to Botox, filler, a laser, or a peel in the weeks before your wedding photos. Do a trial run months ahead, and leave the final two weeks treatment-free.
